أَصَلاحُO Salah أَنّيthat I لاnot أُريدُكِI want you لِلصِّباfor youthful dalliance
أَصَلاحُ أَنّي لا أُريدُكِ لِلصِّبا
فَدَعيso leave off التَشَمُّلَwrapping yourself up حَولَناaround us وَتَبَذَّليand dress for work
فَدَعي التَشَمُّلَ حَولَنا وَتَبَذَّلي
O Salah, I do not want you for youthful dalliance.
So stop wrapping yourself up around us, and dress for work.
إِنّيindeed I أُريدُكِI want you لِلعَجينِfor the dough وَلِلرَّحاand for the millstone
إِنّي أُريدُكِ لِلعَجينِ وَلِلرَّحا
وَلِحَملِand for carrying قِربَتِناour waterskin وَطَبخِand cooking المِرجَلِthe cauldron
وَلِحَملِ قِربَتِنا وَطَبخِ المِرجَلِ
Indeed, I want you to knead dough and work the millstone,
And to carry our waterskin and cook in the cauldron.
وَإِذاand when تَرَوَّحَdeparts in the evening ضَيفُguest أَهلِكِyour family أَوغَداor departs in the morning
وَإِذا تَرَوَّحَ ضَيفُ أَهلِكِ أَوغَدا
فَخُذيthen prepare لِآخَرَfor another نَحوَtoward أَهلِكِyour family مُقبِلِapproaching
فَخُذي لِآخَرَ نَحوَ أَهلِكِ مُقبِلِ
And when your family's guest departs in the evening or the morning,
Then prepare for another approaching your family.
