لَمُلتَمِسٌ تَصديقَها بِبيانِها
Indeed, a man who has stated a position concerning the truth
And indeed, a man who has stated a proposition concerning truth
will surely seek to substantiate it by clearly demonstrating it.
Surely seeks to confirm it by making it clear.
دَعِleave الخَمرَwine يَشرَبهاdrink it الغُواةُthe wayward فَإِنَّنيfor indeed I
دَعِ الخَمرَ يَشرَبها الغُواةُ فَإِنَّني

رَأَيتُ أَخاها مُجزياً لِمَكانِها
Leave wine for the wayward to drink; for I
Leave wine for the wayward to drink, for I
have found her brother sufficient to take her place.
Have found her brother sufficient in her stead.
فَإِنfor if لاnot يَكُنهاhe is her أَوor تَكُنهُshe is him فَإِنَّهُthen indeed he

If he is not wine—or wine is he—then surely he is
For if he is not her, or she is not him, then he is
a brother whom her mother suckled with her milk.
A brother whom her mother suckled with her milk.
