A lover whose beloved has turned away—
A lover whose friends have shunned him
so his night has no dawn.
His night has no dawn

مَوَاعدُ مالَها نُجْحُ
He is tossed about in anguish
It tosses him in anguish
by promises that go unfulfilled.
Its promises bring no success

He has a flood of tears in his eye,
In his eyes a setting sun
and in his innards, a wound.
In his heart a festering wound

Sobered from love for him is the one he hopes
Those who hope to visit him lose hope
will visit him; yet he himself does not sober.
And do not wake
