She says, while the tears’ first drops have kept
You say, while tears have made their omens manifest,
soaking all between my hems and my collars:
Moisten between my waist-sash and my anklets,
لاdo not تَبكِweep وانتظِرِand await العُقْبىthe final outcome فَرُبَّتَماfor perhaps

“Do not weep; await the final outcome, for perhaps
"Do not weep; wait for the restitution, for ofttimes
you will laugh on the day when shin entwines with shin.
You have laughed on the day of intertwining shank with shank.
فإنَّfor indeed مَنْthe one who جَمَعَunited الزوجينِthe pair قبلَكَbefore you لاnot

For the one who united the pair before you does not
So, He who joined the pair before you will not
heed our closeness after separation.”
Be vexed by our amity after separation."
