أأحْبَابَنَاO our beloveds إنْif أجمَعَresolved البُعْدُseparation بَعدَكُمْafter you

O our beloveds, if separation, after your departure, has resolved
Our friends, though distance parts us far and wide
to wage war against us, and its armies have deemed us weak,
And hostile armies seek to crush our pride
وغَادَرنَاand it left us مُسْتَسلمِينَsurrendered لِحِزبِهِto its faction
فلاthen there is no غَرْوَwonder فالمغْلُوبُfor the vanquished منthe one who غَابَis absent ناصِرُهْhis supporter
and it has left us surrendered to its faction,
Abandoned, helpless, to the victor's might
then it is no wonder, for the vanquished is he whose supporter is absent.
No shame to fall when left without a knight
