يا لَيلةَ أُنْسِنَا بأعلَى القَصْرِ
سُقياًmay rain fall لَكِfor you منfrom بينِamong لَياليَnights الدَّهْرِtime
سُقياً لَكِ من بينِ لَياليَ الدَّهْرِ
O night of our delight, high atop the palace,
O night of our delight upon the palace heights,
O night of our delight atop the palace!
May rain’s blessing be yours among all the nights of time!

العُمرُlife سِوَاكِapart from you ضَاعَwas lost مِنِّيfrom me هَدَراًin vain
العُمرُ سِوَاكِ ضَاعَ مِنِّي هَدَراً
لَولاكِwere it not for you لَمَاwould not أحزَنَsadden فَوْتُthe passing العُمْرِlife
لَولاكِ لَمَا أحزَنَ فَوْتُ العُمْرِ
All my life apart from you was lost to me in vain;
Every hour of life that was not you drained away from me for nothing;
My life, apart from you, was lost to me in vain.
Were it not for you, the passing of life would never have grieved me.
were it not for you, the passing of a lifetime would bring no grief at all.
