طَوقَ عُنقِ العَربِي والعَجَمِي
O generous one, whose kindness has always been
O Noble One whose kindness has always
a collar around the necks of Arab and non-Arab,
Encircled the necks of Arab and foreigner alike,
إنَّindeed بَيتيmy house مُقْفِرٌbare فَابعثْso send لَهُto it

بِقَليلٍ من أَشَار السَّلجَمِ
Indeed, my house is bare, so send it
Though my home lies barren, send to it
a little turnip pickle.
A little of the rain from your generous clouds.
