Indeed, an eye whose sustenance is the sight of you, O
A sight whose strength is seeing you, O
its safeguard against the afflictions of ophthalmia,
Giver of security from afflictions of dust,

has a pupil grown hungry because the eye fell ill;
Became hungry from the sickness of its person,
so tend to it with a little antimony kohl.
So revive it with some bread.
