أسْتوهِبُI ask to be granted الأَيَّامَthe days قُرْبَكُمُnearness to you
أسْتوهِبُ الأَيَّامَ قُرْبَكُمُ
فَتُجيبُنيso they answer me بِغَدٍwith tomorrow وبَعْدَand after غَدِtomorrow
فَتُجيبُني بِغَدٍ وبَعْدَ غَدِ
I beg the days to grant me nearness to you;
I ask the days for your nearness,
So they answer me: tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow.
Yet they answer with tomorrow and the day after.
ياO بُعْدَremoteness قُربِnearness غَدٍtomorrow علىfor دَنِفٍone ailing
يا بُعْدَ قُربِ غَدٍ على دَنِفٍ
مُتَشَوِّقٍyearning للأهَلِfor the family والوَلَدِand the children
مُتَشَوِّقٍ للأهَلِ والوَلَدِ
O how distant tomorrow’s nearness is for one ailing,
O near tomorrow from afar,
Yearning for family and children.
Yearning for family and children.
