    O page, say to the brother of generosity and bounty,

    And the man of honor, the generous benefactor:

    O you—when people are wounded by their times,

    They turn to you as they turn to a healing balm:

    فَابْعَثْ إلَيَّ ولَو بَعَثْتَ بِدرْهَمِ

    As of today, my hand has become straitened;

    So send me something, even if only a dirham.

    I am a sapling of your favors; I have no excuse

    If I fail to keep giving thanks for those favors.

    So I shall surely thank you as long as I live; and if I die,

    Then after my death my bones shall surely thank you.
