جَزَىmay reward اللَّهُGod عَنِّيon my behalf ابنَson of الغنيَّةِal-Ghaniyyah ضعفَtwice مَاwhat
جَزَى اللَّهُ عَنِّي ابنَ الغنيَّةِ ضعفَ مَا
جَزَىrewarded مُحْسنٌa benefactor منamong خَلْقِهِHis creatures بِفِعَالِهِfor his deeds
جَزَى مُحْسنٌ من خَلْقِهِ بِفِعَالِهِ
May God reward Ibn al-Ghaniyyah on my behalf with twice what
May God reward the son of al-Ghunna doubly for what
He grants a benefactor among His creatures for his deeds.
He rewarded any benefactor among His creation for his deeds
لَعَمْريby my life لَقَدْindeed أوْلَىhe bestowed الجَميلَkindness تَبَرُّعاًfreely
لَعَمْري لَقَدْ أوْلَى الجَميلَ تَبَرُّعاً
وبَادَرَand he hastened بالمَعْروفِwith kindness بَعدَafter سُؤَالِهِhis being asked
وبَادَرَ بالمَعْروفِ بَعدَ سُؤَالِهِ
By my life, he bestowed kindness freely,
By my life, he anticipated generosity voluntarily
And hastened to do good after being asked.
And took the initiative of kindness after being asked
وأغرَبُand the strangest ماwhat لاقَيتُهُI encountered it مِنهُfrom him بَعثُهُhis sending
وأغرَبُ ما لاقَيتُهُ مِنهُ بَعثُهُ
إليَّto me بِجسمِwith the body of الشَّنفَرَىal-Shanfara بعدafter خَالِهِhis maternal uncle
إليَّ بِجسمِ الشَّنفَرَى بعد خَالِهِ
And the strangest thing I encountered from him was his sending
