لَعَمْركَ ما وَارُوهُ في التُّرْبِ إنَّهُ

لَعَمْركَ ما وَارُوهُ في التُّرْبِ إنَّهُ

تقاصَرَ عن حَدِّ العُرُوجِ إلى الأُفْقِ

تقاصَرَ عن حَدِّ العُرُوجِ إلى الأُفْقِ

By your life, they buried him in the earth—not because he

By your life, that which they have buried in the dust,

could not ascend as far as the horizon;

It fell short of rising up to the horizon,

ولكنَّهُ الطَّوْدُ الذي لو يزولُ عَنْ

ولكنَّهُ الطَّوْدُ الذي لو يزولُ عَنْ

مَرَاسِيهِ مَادَتْ هذهِ الأرضُ بالخَلْقِ

مَرَاسِيهِ مَادَتْ هذهِ الأرضُ بالخَلْقِ

but he is the mountain that, were it to shift from

But it is the pillar, that if it passes away

its moorings, this earth would sway with all creation.

From its firm positions, this earth will crumble with its people.
