The mother kisses her child and holds him close—
The mother kisses her child and hugs him
The mother kisses her child and embraces him,
A sacred sanctuary of heavenly beauty.
A heavenly sanctuary of beauty, sacred
A sanctuary of heavenly beauty, sacred and pure.

Thoughts become devoted in his presence
Thoughts become divine within its presence,
And souls become pure again there.
And return purified there, the souls
And souls return to innocence therein.

Life’s sanctuary, with its purity and tenderness—
The sanctuary of life in its purity and affection
The shrine of life, in its purity and tenderness—
Is there a sanctuary above it, nobler and holier?
Is there a more glorious and holier one above it?
Is there a shrine more majestic or more holy?

Blessed are you, o sanctuary of motherhood and childhood
Blessed be you, O shrine of motherhood and youth,
How life becomes whole and holy in you!
How much life is completed in you and sanctified
How often within you life is perfected and sanctified.
