دُcompletion of تكاد: almost يَدايَmy two hands مِنهُbecause of it تَرعشانِtremble
دُ يَدايَ مِنهُ تَرعشانِ
When old age began to show, my hands almost—
When old age appeared,
When old age began to show,
When old age appeared, and well-nigh
—trembled because of it.
my hands nearly trembled because of it.
My hands started to tremble.
My hands began to tremble from its weight,
وَجَفَتfluttered قُلوبُhearts حَبائِبيmy loved ones
وَجَفَت قُلوبُ حَبائِبي
وَجَفَتand grew aloof كأنas though لَمnot تَرعَcare for شانيmy condition
وَجَفَت كأن لَم تَرعَ شاني
The hearts of my loved ones quivered,
My loved ones’ hearts fluttered,
The hearts of my beloved ones dried up,
The hearts of my beloveds turned harsh,
Quivered as though they had never cared for my plight.
and grew aloof, as though they had never cared about my condition.
As if they had never trembled for me.
And shunned me, as if they never cared for my state.
