هَزئscoffed الزَمانُtime بِحُسَّديat my enviers
هَزئ الزَمانُ بِحُسَّدي
أَلمَفخَريis it for my glory? يَبغونَthey seek شاواa reach
أَلمَفخَري يَبغونَ شاوا
Time has scoffed at those who envy me.
Time has cast mockery upon my enviers,
Do they seek to rival my glory?
Do they seek to reach the summit of my glory?
ماnot ضَرَّنيharmed me بَغيٌaggression عَلَيagainst (continued)
ما ضَرَّني بَغيٌ عَلَي
يَme (completing عَلَيَّ) فَدَعهُمُso let them يَبغواtransgress نَشاوىdrunken
يَ فَدَعهُمُ يَبغوا نَشاوى
I have not been harmed by aggression against
Their transgression against me has caused no harm,
me; so let them transgress in their drunkenness.
So leave them to pursue their aims in drunken delusion.
