The lion of the wild—and all lions—weep
The lion of al-Sharā—the lions weep
The lion of war and wild beasts weep for him
The lions of the thicket and the fierce beasts weep,
for him, as do the lofty stars.
For him, and so do the lofty stars.
And the lofty stars,
Over him, as do the stars of the heights.

When he perished, none smiled
None smiled on the morning he perished
None smiled the morrow he perished
None smiled on the morning he perished,
save his enemies and the grazing beasts.
Except the foes, along with the venomous creatures.
Save the foes, and the augurs of ill.
Save for the enemies and the haughty ones.
