إِن شِئتُم أَو عدوهُ
Say to the foes: “or—count him”—joined, “threaten him”;
Tell the foes: “Threaten him,
Say to the enemy, or befriend him,
Say to the enemies: "Threaten him,"
if you wish: “or—count him”—joined, “threaten him.”
if you wish, or promise him.”
Whether you choose to befriend or be his foe,
"If you wish, or count him [among the dead];"

إِذ قالَ لي أَوع دوهُ
You killed him with an eye—an ʿayn—
You killed him with an eye,
In my eyes you have slain him,
You have slain him with the evil eye,
when he said to me: “awʿ—dūhu.”
when he said to me: “They threatened him.”
When he said to me, "I'm your sworn enemy."
When he said to me: "Comprehend his malady."
