مَحبَّتِيmy love تَقْتَضِيcalls for وِداديmy devotion
وحالتيand my circumstances تقْتَضِيcalls for الرَّحِيلاdeparture
My love calls for my devotion,
My love requires affection
My love demands I show affection,
And my circumstances call for departure.
And my state requires departure
While my circumstances demand departure.
هذَانِthese two خصْمَانadversaries لستُI am not أقْضِيI judge
بينَهُماbetween them both خوفَfor fear أنthat أَمِيلاI take sides
These two are adversaries; I do not judge
These two opponents, I cannot judge between
These are two adversaries; I cannot judge
Between them, for fear that I might take sides.
Fearing I would be partial
Between them, for fear I might show bias.
ولاand not يزَالانِthey both cease فِيin اِخْتِصامٍdispute

And they remain in dispute
And they continue in dispute
And they remain in constant dispute
Until we learn your gracious opinion.
Until we see your beautiful view
Until we behold your beautiful decree.
