بِأَبيwith my father as ransom الصادِقِthe truthful one الَّذيwho
بِأَبي الصادِقِ الَّذي
كانَhe was إِنif قالَhe spoke أَوجزاhe was brief
كانَ إِن قالَ أَوجزا
May my father be ransom for the truthful man who
May my father be ransom for the truthful one who
By my father the truthful one
May my father be a ransom for the truthful one who,
would be concise whenever he spoke;
was brief whenever he spoke,
Whose words, if brief, sufficed,
Whenever he spoke, was concise in his words,
وَإِذاand whenever نلتهُyou bestowed on him يَداًa hand; a favor
وَإِذا نلتهُ يَداً
قامَhe responded بِالشُكرِwith thanks أَوor جَزىhe repaid
قامَ بِالشُكرِ أَو جَزى
and whenever you did him a kindness,
and whenever you lent him a hand,
And if given a hand,
And if ever I bestowed a favor upon him,
he responded with thanks or repaid it.
he gave thanks or repaid the favor.
He would thank or reward.
He would rise to give thanks or reciprocate.
