كَأَنَّهُ في سُيوفِ الهِندِ فَولاذُ
In you, O Abd al-Ghani, I have indeed lost a youth,
A youth has escaped me, O Abdel Ghani, as though
I have lost a youth from your kin, O Abd al-Ghani,
As though he were steel in the swords of India.
He took refuge in Indian swords and found sanctuary.
Who was like tempered steel amidst the swords of India;
آوىhe sought refuge إِلىto جَنَّةِthe Garden of المَأوىRefuge وَغادَرَنيand left me

He took refuge in the Garden of Refuge and left me
He went to the garden of refuge and abandoned me
He sought sanctuary in the Garden of Refuge and left me
Among those remaining, who, whenever I say, 'Keep faith,' flee for shelter.
In deep sorrows when I say, “O the sanctuary!”
Among those remaining who, when I but speak, turn and flee.
