Through the pardon of the Lord of the Throne, I hope to
The Lord of the Throne, I hope for His pardon
I hope, through the pardon of the Lord of the Throne,
dwell in Tuba, with you as my neighbor.
That I may dwell in bliss while you are my neighbor
To dwell in Tuba while you are my neighbor.

وَقَدand indeed خَلَتhas become empty مِنof سَناكَyour radiance داريmy home
Sweet basil of my soul, how can I forget,
The comfort of the soul, how can I forget
O basil of my soul, how can I forget,
when my home is empty of your radiance?
While your home has parted from mine
When my home has become empty of your light?
رَجَوتُI hoped بُقياكَyour continued life لِلمَعاليfor noble achievements

وَاِختارَكَand chose you اللَهُGod بِاِضطراريagainst my will
I hoped you would live on for noble achievements,
I hoped for your survival for great things
I hoped you would remain to reach noble heights,
and God chose you against my will.
And God chose you through my constraint
But God chose you, and I was compelled to accept.
رَماكَstruck you سَهمُthe arrow الرَدىdeath فَأَصمىand killed outright
بِهِwith it شمسُthe sun الدَراريthe radiant stars
Death's arrow struck you, slaying outright
The arrow of fate struck you blind
The arrow of death struck you and pierced deep,
with it the sun of the radiant stars.
Thereby the sun of the abodes
Bringing down the sun of the shining stars.

You grew wise before completing ten years,
You were rightly guided before the age of ten
You grew wise before completing ten years,
and were adorned with forbearance and dignity.
And grew in wisdom and dignity
And were adorned with prudence and dignity.

Your father is captive to grief until
Your father remains afflicted with sorrow
Your father remains a hostage to sorrow until
he meets you in the abode of lasting rest.
Until he meets you in the abode of settlement
He meets you in the Abode of Eternity.
رَثىhe lamented وَبَكّىand made others weep فَقالَthen said قَومٌsome people
أَمَدَّهُsupplied him لُؤلُؤُpearls البِحارِthe seas
He lamented and moved others to tears; then some said:
A people eulogized and wept and said
He mourned and wept until the people asked,
“The pearls of the seas have supplied him.”
He was succored by the pearls of the seas
"Have the pearls of the seas supplied his tears?"
رَثَّgrew threadbare جَديدُfreshness الصِباyouth وَآضَتand became
كافورَةًcamphor مسكَةُmusk العذارِthe cheek-down
Youth's freshness grew threadbare, and what became
The youthful east wind wept
The newness of youth has worn away, and transformed
camphor was the musk of my cheek-down.
Like ambergris musk of virgins
Is the musk of dark locks into camphor white.
رُزِئتُI was bereaved فيof نَرجسيmy narcissus وَآسيand my myrtle
وَياسَمينيand my jasmine وَجُلَّناريand my pomegranate blossom
I was bereaved of my narcissus and my myrtle,
I was ridiculed for my narcissus, my myrtle,
I have been stricken in my narcissus and myrtle,
and my jasmine and my pomegranate blossom.
And my jasmine and pomegranate tree
In my jasmine and my pomegranate blossom.
رَفَّهتَنيyou gave me ease ثُمَّthen سمتyou tormented نَفسيmy soul
ياO جَنَّتيmy paradise كَيفَhow صِرتyou became ناريmy fire
You gave me ease, then tormented my soul.
You indulged me then my soul narrowed,
You brought me ease, then burdened my soul;
O my paradise, how did you become my fire?
Oh my garden, how you became my fire
O my paradise, how have you become my fire?
رَيّاكَyour fragrance مِسكُmusk الشَبابُyouth عِنديto me

إِذwhen كُنتُI was مُستَطرِفَfinding novel delight in الثِمارِthe fruits
Your fragrance was the musk of youth to me,
I viewed you as the wine of youth with me
Your scent remains the musk of youth to me,
when I found the fruits a fresh delight.
When I was reveling in fruits
From the time I sought to gather fresh fruit.

I grew lovely; then, when the harvest drew near,
I swayed and when the harvest came near
You were pleasing, but when the harvest drew near,
I vanished, and my caution availed me nothing.
I stumbled and my caution did not avail me
You vanished, and my caution availed me nothing.

Restore my slumber and forgive my stumbling.

Restore my sleep and save me, for I
Return my slumberers and deliver me
Restore my slumber and save me, for I
have drowned in copious tears.
I have drowned in copious tears
Have drowned in a deluge of tears.

فَقَوِّso strengthen عَزميmy resolve بِالاِصطِبارِthrough patient endurance
My soul has grown frail and almost melted away;
My soul almost melted and disintegrated
My soul has grown frail and nearly melts away,
so strengthen my resolve through patient endurance.
So strengthen my resolve with patience
So strengthen my resolve with patience.
