إِنَّ قُلوباً وَجَبَت

إِنَّ قُلوباً وَجَبَت

حُقَّ لَها أَن تَجِبا

حُقَّ لَها أَن تَجِبا

Indeed, hearts have throbbed;

Indeed, hearts have trembled,

rightly should they throb.

And it is right for them to tremble.

مِثلُكَ يا عَبدَ الغني

مِثلُكَ يا عَبدَ الغني

ي البَرَّ لَن أَنتَجِبا

ي البَرَّ لَن أَنتَجِبا

One like you, O ʿAbd al-Ghanī,

For one like you, O Abd al-Ghani,

the righteous, I shall never choose.

The righteous—I shall never choose another.
