وَباكِيَةٍAnd a weeping woman تَقولُsays بَغىacted unjustly
وَباكِيَةٍ تَقولُ بَغى
عَلىagainst اِبنِكَyour son صنوُهُhis brother وسطاand assaulted
عَلى اِبنِكَ صنوُهُ وسطا
And a weeping woman says, “Wrong was done
A crying woman says in despair
And a weeping woman crying out: "He has transgressed
to your son by his brother, who assaulted him.
Your son has strayed from the right path
Against your son—his own brother—and assaulted him!"
فَلَيتَSo, would that أَخاهُhis brother حينَwhen عَداhe attacked
فَلَيتَ أَخاهُ حينَ عَدا

غَدا مِن رَأسِهِ وَسطا
Would that his brother, when he attacked,
If only when he transgressed
Would that his brother, at the moment he attacked,
had been cleft from his head down the middle!”
His brother had struck him on the head
Had been cleft in two from his head down the middle.
