ألمdid … not? تَرَنيyou see me ندِمتُI regretted علىover اِرتِحاليmy departure
ألم تَرَني ندِمتُ على اِرتِحالي
وغالَطتُand I misled العداةthe enemies بسوءِabout the wretchedness of حاليmy condition
وغالَطتُ العداة بسوءِ حالي
Have you not seen how I regretted my departure,
Did you not see me regret my departure
Did you not see me regret my departure
Did you not see that I regretted my departure,
and misled my enemies with the misery of my plight?
and mislead my enemies about my wretched state?
And delude my enemies by my ill state
And deceived the foes with my wretched condition?

أُسَلِّيI console النَّفْسَthe soul عنْهَاfor its loss بالمُحَالِwith the impossible
أُسَلِّي النَّفْسَ عنْهَا بالمُحَالِ
No city can compare with Dāniya; yet
And no city is like Dāniya, and yet
No home like Dâniyah, but
There is no land like Denia, and yet,
I console my soul for its loss with impossible hopes.
I console my soul for its loss with the impossible.
I comfort my soul from it with impossibilities
I console my soul for her loss with impossible hopes.
