We were taken by surprise, though death is expected,
It caught us unawares while death lay in wait, a brief excerpt taken from the gatherer of virtues,
by a brief note from the gatherer of virtues.
The tale of a calamity deafened my hearing; the mere mention of it blunted the sharpest of swords.
