I was bereaved of a good, vigilant man,
In pleasant wakefulness, I was bereaved of him [wording unclear].
In a sweet awakening I was blessed
I was stricken by the loss of noble Yaqz,
and his fall struck every good and vigilant soul.
Then he fell upon every good, wakeful person [wording unclear].
It fell upon all sweet awakenings
And down fell every noble, watchful thing.

They said, “Put on armor against the winter.” I told them:
They said, “Armor yourself against winter.” I told them:
They said: “Arm yourself for winter,” I said:
They said, "Shield yourself against the winter." I replied,
Whoever winters amid sighs like mine stays wakeful.”
“Whoever winters amid a sigh like mine will experience summer.”
“Who can sleep in the face of my sigh?”
"He who winters in my burning sighs endures a scorching summer."
