أَشَارَ إلَيكَ بتَسلِيمَةٍ

أَشَارَ إلَيكَ بتَسلِيمَةٍ

وَمِن قَبلُ مَرَّ وَمَا سَلَّمَا

وَمِن قَبلُ مَرَّ وَمَا سَلَّمَا

He gestured to you with a greeting;

He greeted you with a wave

And earlier he passed by without greeting.

Though before he had passed by without a word

فَهذِي بِتلكَ وَذَا سُُكَّرُ

فَهذِي بِتلكَ وَذَا سُُكَّرُ

يُحَلِّي بِهِ ذلكَ العَلقَما

يُحَلِّي بِهِ ذلكَ العَلقَما

So this makes up for that, and this is sugar

So this one with that other is reconciled

With which he sweetens that bitter colocynth.

Sweetening with it that bitterness
