رَعَاكmay He watch over you اللهُGod هَذَاthis وَقتُa time of ضَيقِhardship
وَقَدand indeed ذَهَلَhas grown heedless الصَّدِيقُthe friend عَنِof الصَّدِيقِthe friend
May God watch over you; this is a time of hardship.
God protect you, these are hard times
And a friend has grown heedless of a friend.
When friends forget about friends
وَأسوَاقُand the markets المَتَاجِرِmerchandise كَاسِدَاتٌare stagnant
فَلَيتَso, if only كَذَاكَlikewise أسوَاقَthe markets الدَّقِيقِflour
And the markets for merchandise are stagnant.
Markets of trade are stagnant
So, if only the flour markets were likewise!
If only the markets of wheat were too
وَإِنَّكَand indeed you أَكثَرُthe wealthiest المُثرِينَof the rich يَوماًone day
إِذاif أحرَزتَyou earn شُكرَthe gratitude of بَنِيthe sons of حَرِيقِHariq
And indeed, you will one day be the wealthiest of the rich,
You will be most generous one day
If you earn the gratitude of the sons of Hariq.
If you can earn the gratitude of the poor
