يا ناسِياً لي عَلى عِرفانِهِ تَلَفي

يا ناسِياً لي عَلى عِرفانِهِ تَلَفي

ذِكرُكَ مِنِّيَ بِالأَنفاسِ مَوصولُ

ذِكرُكَ مِنِّيَ بِالأَنفاسِ مَوصولُ

O you who forget me, though you know I am perishing,

O you who forgot me though to know me you are obligated

My remembrance of you is bound to every breath.

Your memory of me with every breath is associated

وَقاطِعاً صِلَتي مِن غَيرِ ما سَبَبٍ

وَقاطِعاً صِلَتي مِن غَيرِ ما سَبَبٍ

تَاللَهِ إِنَّكَ عَن روحي لَمَسؤولُ

تَاللَهِ إِنَّكَ عَن روحي لَمَسؤولُ

And you who sever my bond without any cause,

And severed my connection without any cause

By God, you are surely answerable for my soul.

By God, you for my soul will be held accountable

ما شِئتَ فَاصنَعهُ كُلٌّ مِنكَ مُحتَمَلٌ

ما شِئتَ فَاصنَعهُ كُلٌّ مِنكَ مُحتَمَلٌ

وَالذَنبُ مُغتَفَرٌ وَالعُذرُ مَقبولُ

وَالذَنبُ مُغتَفَرٌ وَالعُذرُ مَقبولُ

Do whatever you wish; everything from you is bearable.

Do what you wish, from you all is tolerable

And the fault is forgiven, and the excuse accepted.

The sin is pardoned and the excuse acceptable

لَو كُنتَ حَظِّيَ لَم أَطلُب بِهِ بَدَلاً

لَو كُنتَ حَظِّيَ لَم أَطلُب بِهِ بَدَلاً

أَو نِلتُ مِنكَ الرِضا لَم يَبقَ مَأمولُ

أَو نِلتُ مِنكَ الرِضا لَم يَبقَ مَأمولُ

If you were my lot, I would seek no substitute for it;

If you were my fortune, I'd not seek an alternative

Or if I gained your favor, nothing would remain to be hoped for.

Or attained your approval, hope would cease to linger
