    عارِضُ كَربٍ بِلُطفِهِ رَفَعَه

    God has indeed done well in what He has wrought;

A passing spell of distress He lifted through His kindness.

Blessed be God! Indeed, His customary beneficence

Is never withdrawn when met with gratitude.

O my lord, who alone holds in my affection

A place whose breadth surpasses all reckoning.

The necklace reached me—may its stringer be adorned—

And the brocade—may no calamity frighten its craftsman.

You scattered exquisite artistry through it, choosing carefully,

Like a meadow when it spreads its patches across the hills.

Its opening dispelled the distress of the medicine,

When joy's rising star appeared alongside it.

Many a worthy prayer it has contained,

Which I hope will be heard.

The sum of what your noble soul, concerning my condition,

Is eager to know in full is this:

    That the medicine's effects delighted

My soul, which had drunk its fill of its draughts.

So praise be to God; He has no partner.

If He begins to bestow His bounty, He doubles it.
