لَئِن فاتَني مِنكِ حَظُّ النَظَر

لَئِن فاتَني مِنكِ حَظُّ النَظَر

لِأَكتَفِيَن بِسَماعِ الخَبَر

لِأَكتَفِيَن بِسَماعِ الخَبَر

Even if I am denied the chance to gaze upon you,

I shall surely be content with hearing news of you.

وَإِن عَرَضَت غَفلَةٌ لِلرَقيبِ

وَإِن عَرَضَت غَفلَةٌ لِلرَقيبِ

فَحَسبِيَ تَسليمَةٌ تُختَصَر

فَحَسبِيَ تَسليمَةٌ تُختَصَر

And if the watcher lapses into inattention,

then a brief greeting will suffice me.

أُحاذِرُ أَن تَتَظَنّى الوُشاةُ

أُحاذِرُ أَن تَتَظَنّى الوُشاةُ

وَقَد يُستَدامُ الهَوى بِالحَذَر

وَقَد يُستَدامُ الهَوى بِالحَذَر

I fear lest the slanderers grow suspicious,

and love may be sustained through caution.

وَأَصبِرُ مُستَيقِناً أَنَّهُ

وَأَصبِرُ مُستَيقِناً أَنَّهُ

سَيَحظى بِنَيلِ المُنى مَن صَبَر

سَيَحظى بِنَيلِ المُنى مَن صَبَر

And I remain patient, certain that

whoever is patient will attain his desires.
