And a bouquet whose breeze heals the ailing,

Its breaths steeped in perfume, its fragrance sweet—

Delicate fingertips gestured with it toward me,

Those of a graceful youth whose eyes were kohled with enchantment.

Freshness from its watering coursed through its branches,

And it was watered anew with musk from his radiant virtues.

Whenever he offers jasmine with his hand,

I take bright stars from the palm of the full moon.

He has a sweet nature and a beautiful form,

And charm like perfume’s fragrance or wine’s intoxication.

He soothes my soul with talk it finds sweet,

Like wishes fulfilled and reunion in the wake of estrangement.
