فُزwin بِالنَجاحِwith success وَأَحرِزِand secure الإِقبالاgood fortune
فُز بِالنَجاحِ وَأَحرِزِ الإِقبالا
وَحُزand attain المُنىwishes وَتَنجِّزِand secure fulfillment of الآمالاhopes
وَحُز المُنى وَتَنجِّزِ الآمالا
Win success and secure good fortune.
Achieve success and gain favor
And attain your wishes and see your hopes fulfilled.
Attain your wishes and fulfill your hopes
وَليَهنِكَand may it gladden you التَأييدُsupport وَالظَفَرُand victory اللَذاthe two that
وَليَهنِكَ التَأييدُ وَالظَفَرُ اللَذا
صَدَقاكَboth proved true for you فيin السِمَةِthe title العَلِيَّةِexalted فالاas a good omen
صَدَقاكَ في السِمَةِ العَلِيَّةِ فالا
And may support and victory gladden you—the two
May you be supported and granted victory
that have made the good omen in your exalted title come true.
Your reputation for excellence is true
ياO أَيُّهاyou المَلِكُthe king الَّذيwho لَولاهُbut for him لَمwould not
يا أَيُّها المَلِكُ الَّذي لَولاهُ لَم
تَجِدُfind العُقولُthe minds الناشِداتُseeking كَمالاperfection
تَجِدُ العُقولُ الناشِداتُ كَمالا
O king, without whom none
O King without whom
of the questing minds would find perfection.
Eager minds would not find perfection
أَمّاas for الثُرَيّاal-Thurayya فَالثُرَيّاthen it is the Pleiades نَصبَةًin form
أَمّا الثُرَيّا فَالثُرَيّا نَصبَةً
وَإِفادَةًand in bounty وَإِنافَةًand in loftiness وَجَمالاand in beauty
وَإِفادَةً وَإِنافَةً وَجَمالا
As for al-Thurayya, it is the Pleiades in its form,
As for Al-Thurya, it is a gift
and in bounty, loftiness, and beauty.
Of benefit, generosity, and beauty
قَدindeed شاقَهاmade it yearn الإِغبابُintermittent visiting حَتّىso much that إِنَّهاindeed it
قَد شاقَها الإِغبابُ حَتّى إِنَّها
لَوif تَستَطيعُit could سَرَتit would travel by night إِلَيكَto you خَيالاas a phantom
لَو تَستَطيعُ سَرَت إِلَيكَ خَيالا
Your intermittent visits have made it yearn so much that
The clouds have burdened it, so that
if it could, it would come to you by night as a phantom.
If it could, it would send you imaginations
رَفِّهmake frequent وُرودَكَهاyour visits to it لِتَغنَمَso you may gain راحَةًrest
رَفِّه وُرودَكَها لِتَغنَمَ راحَةً
وَأَطِلand prolong مَزارَكَهاyour visit to it لِتَنعَمَso you may be at ease بالاin mind
وَأَطِل مَزارَكَها لِتَنعَمَ بالا
Make your visits to it frequent, to gain repose,
Air out its roses to gain comfort
and prolong your stay there, to find peace of mind.
And lengthen its visits to enjoy serenity
وَتَمَثَّلِand picture القَصرَthe palace المُبارَكَal-Mubarak (the blessed) وَجنَةًas a cheek
وَتَمَثَّلِ القَصرَ المُبارَكَ وَجنَةً
قَدalready وَسَّطَتset in the center فيهاin it الثُرَيّاal-Thurayya خالاas a beauty mark
قَد وَسَّطَت فيها الثُرَيّا خالا
And picture al-Mubarak Palace as a cheek,
And envision the blessed palace as a garden
with al-Thurayya set at its center as a beauty mark.
In whose center Al-Thurya placed moles
وَأَدِرand pass round هُناكَthere مِنَof المُدامِthe wine أَتَمَّهاits most perfect
وَأَدِر هُناكَ مِنَ المُدامِ أَتَمَّها
أَرَجاًin fragrance زَكاwas pure وَأَشَفَّهاand its clearest جِريالاin crimson hue
أَرَجاً زَكا وَأَشَفَّها جِريالا
And there pass round the wine most perfect
And pour there the freshest wine, the purest
in its pure fragrance, and clearest in its crimson hue.
And most delicious drink
قَصرٌa palace يُقِرُّdelights العَينَthe eye مِنهُof it مَصنَعٌan edifice
قَصرٌ يُقِرُّ العَينَ مِنهُ مَصنَعٌ
بَهِجُlovely الجَوانِبِthe sides لَوif مَشىit walked لَاِختالاit would strut
بَهِجُ الجَوانِبِ لَو مَشى لَاِختالا
A palace whose edifice delights the eye,
A palace that delights the eye, a finely crafted edifice
lovely on every side—if it walked, it would strut.
Whose sides glow if you walk by
لاnever زِلتَyou cease تَفتَرِشَyou take as bedding السُرورَjoy حَدائِقاًas gardens
لا زِلتَ تَفتَرِشَ السُرورَ حَدائِقاً
فيهِin it وَتَلتَحِفُand you wrap yourself in النَعيمَbliss ظِلالاas shades
فيهِ وَتَلتَحِفُ النَعيمَ ظِلالا
May you ever make gardens of joy your bed
You continue furnishing gardens of joy
within it, and wrap yourself in shades of bliss.
And wrapping bliss with shadows
