You have attained, O al-Yusi, son of glory,

Every honor by inscribing these pages.

Their artistry showed that you have drunk deep

    Of nobility from brimming cups,

And are the illustrious scion of the noble father,

The sun of instruction, the sustenance of souls.

May you never lack, from his goodness, what banishes misery,

Dispels ill fortune—the light of suns.

And a greeting from Ibn Zakur that echoes

Your character, for 'there is no perfume after Arus.'
