ثَغْرُmouth الزَّمَانِof time تَبَسَّمْsmiled
مِنْfrom شَدْوِthe song of طَيْرٍa bird تَرَنَّمْwarbled
The mouth of time smiled
The mouth of time smiled
The mouth of time smiled
From the song of a bird that warbled.
At the melody of singing birds
At the song of a warbling bird,
وَالْوَرْدُand the rose أَبْدَىrevealed عَقِيقاًcarnelian
بِشَذْرِwith flecks of تِبْرٍuncoined gold مُعَلَّمْadorned
And the rose revealed carnelian,
And the rose displayed rubies
And the rose revealed its carnelian,
Adorned with flecks of gold,
Sprinkled with speckled dew
Marked with flecks of pure gold,
كَأَنَّهُas though it were بِنَدَاهُwith its dew
وَجْهٌa face صَبِيحٌlovely مُلَثَّمْveiled
As though, with its dew, it were
As if it were, with its dew,
As though, bathed in its morning dew,
A lovely, veiled face.
A radiant veiled face
It were a radiant, veiled face.
