أَلاَ كُنْ فِي حَيَاتِكَ ذَا احْتِيَاطِ

أَلاَ كُنْ فِي حَيَاتِكَ ذَا احْتِيَاطِ

عَلَى مَرْضَاةِ رَبِّكَ ذَا اغْتِبَاطِ

عَلَى مَرْضَاةِ رَبِّكَ ذَا اغْتِبَاطِ

Take heed: be cautious in your life,

Be in your life one of caution

Take heed, and be ever prudent in your life,

rejoicing in your Lord's pleasure.

Seeking to please your Lord in elation

And in the pleasure of your Lord, be filled with joy.

وَلاَ تُتْعِبْكَ ذِي الدُّنْيَا بِحِرْصٍ

وَلاَ تُتْعِبْكَ ذِي الدُّنْيَا بِحِرْصٍ

فَذِي الدُّنْيَا مُقَطَّعَةُ النِّيَاطِ

فَذِي الدُّنْيَا مُقَطَّعَةُ النِّيَاطِ

And let not this world weary you through greed,

Let not this world weary you with greed

Let not this world weary you with covetous greed,

for this world's heartstring is torn asunder.

For this world's affairs are torn to shreds

For this world severs the very cords of the heart.
