صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تُمْجَدْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تُمْجَدْ

Send blessings upon him, and you will be aided.

Pray upon him, you will be aided

Send blessings upon him, and you will be glorified.

Pray upon him, you will be glorified

يَا بِغْيَتِي فِي الْمَقْصَدْ

يَا بِغْيَتِي فِي الْمَقْصَدْ

وَمُنْجِدِي فِي الْمَجْهَدْ

وَمُنْجِدِي فِي الْمَجْهَدْ

O object of my desire in my quest,

O my ultimate desire in what I seek,

and my helper in hardship.

And my rescuer in times of struggle!

صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدْ

صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدْ

بِهَا يَطِيبُ الْمَشْهَدْ

بِهَا يَطِيبُ الْمَشْهَدْ

Send blessings upon Muhammad.

Pray upon Muhammad

Through it, the scene becomes pleasant.

By it, the gathering is made sweet

صَلِّ عَلَى الْمُصْطَفَى

صَلِّ عَلَى الْمُصْطَفَى

شَمْسِ الصَّفَا وَالْوَفَا

شَمْسِ الصَّفَا وَالْوَفَا

Send blessings upon the Chosen One,

Pray upon the Chosen One

the sun of purity and faithfulness.

The sun of purity and loyalty

حَسْبِي بِهَا وَكَفَى

حَسْبِي بِهَا وَكَفَى

يَوْمَ الْعَنَا وَالْمَجْهَدْ

يَوْمَ الْعَنَا وَالْمَجْهَدْ

It is enough for me, and it suffices

It is sufficient and enough for me

on the day of suffering and hardship.

On the day of hardship and struggle

صَلِّ عَلَى خَيْرِ الْخَلْقْ

صَلِّ عَلَى خَيْرِ الْخَلْقْ

الْمُنْتَقَى سِرِّ الْحَقّْ

الْمُنْتَقَى سِرِّ الْحَقّْ

Send blessings upon the best of creation,

Pray upon the best of creation

the Chosen One, the mystery of the Truth,

The selected one, the secret of the Truth

رَبُّ الْهِلاَلِ الْمُنْشَقّْ

رَبُّ الْهِلاَلِ الْمُنْشَقّْ

مُعْلِي الْعُلاَ مُحَمَّدْ

مُعْلِي الْعُلاَ مُحَمَّدْ

master of the split crescent,

Master of the split moon

who raises glory high—Muhammad.

The elevator of heights, Muhammad

صَلِّ عَلَى نُورِ النُّورْ

صَلِّ عَلَى نُورِ النُّورْ

مُبْلِي حِجَابَ الدَّيْجُورْ

مُبْلِي حِجَابَ الدَّيْجُورْ

Send blessings upon the light of light,

Pray upon the Light of Light

who wears away the veil of deep darkness.

Who pierces the veil of deep darkness

صَلِّ وَدُمْ يَا مَغْرُورْ

صَلِّ وَدُمْ يَا مَغْرُورْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تُنْجَدْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تُنْجَدْ

Send blessings and persist, O deluded one.

Pray and persist, O deluded soul

Send blessings upon him, and you will be aided.

Pray upon him, you will be aided

صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدْ

صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تُحْمَدْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تُحْمَدْ

Send blessings upon Muhammad.

Send blessings upon him, and you will be praised.

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَسْعَدْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَسْعَدْ

يَوْمَ حُلُولِ الْمَلْحَدْ

يَوْمَ حُلُولِ الْمَلْحَدْ

Send blessings upon him, and you will be happy

Pray upon him, you will find happiness

on the day of entering the grave.

On the day of entering the grave

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تُنْصَرْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تُنْصَرْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَذْفَرْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَذْفَرْ

Send blessings upon him, and you will be granted victory.

Pray upon him, you will be granted victory

Send blessings upon him, and you will give off a strong scent.

Pray upon him, you will be fragrant

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَظْفَرْ بِمَا نَأَى مِنْ مَقْصَدْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَظْفَرْ بِمَا نَأَى مِنْ مَقْصَدْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تُرْفَعْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تُرْفَعْ

Send blessings upon him, and you will attain whatever goal lay far away.

Pray upon him, you will attain your distant goals

Send blessings upon him, and you will be exalted.

Pray upon him, you will be elevated

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ ةتُنْفَعْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ ةتُنْفَعْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تُشْفَعْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تُشْفَعْ

Send blessings upon him, and you will benefit.

Pray upon him, you will benefit

Send blessings upon him; intercession will be made

Pray upon him, you will be granted intercession

فِيكَ صَلَاةُ الأَمْجَدْ

فِيكَ صَلَاةُ الأَمْجَدْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تشفى

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تشفى

for you by the Most Glorious One's prayer.

Upon you will be the prayer of the Most Glorious

Send blessings upon him, and you will be healed.

Pray upon him, you will be healed

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تصفى

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تصفى

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تُكْفَى

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تُكْفَى

Send blessings upon him, and you will be purified.

Pray upon him, you will be purified

Send blessings upon him, and you will be spared

Pray upon him, you will be sufficed

مَا تَخْتَشِي مِنْ مِحْرَدْ

مَا تَخْتَشِي مِنْ مِحْرَدْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَرْبَحْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَرْبَحْ

whatever you fear from one prone to anger.

Against the malice that you fear

Send blessings upon him, and you will profit.

Pray upon him, you will profit

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَنْجَحْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَنْجَحْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تُمْنَحْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تُمْنَحْ

Send blessings upon him, and you will succeed.

Pray upon him, you will succeed

Send blessings upon him, and you will be granted gifts

Pray upon him, you will be granted

من فضة أو عسجد

من فضة أو عسجد

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تُكْرَمْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تُكْرَمْ

of silver or gold.

Gifts of silver or of gold

Send blessings upon him, and you will be honored.

Pray upon him, you will be honored

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تًعْظَمْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تًعْظَمْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تُنْظَمْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تُنْظَمْ

Send blessings upon him, and you will be exalted.

Pray upon him, you will be exalted

Send blessings upon him, and you will be strung

Pray upon him, you will be strung

فِي سِلْكِ مَنْ لاَ يُبْعَدْ

فِي سِلْكِ مَنْ لاَ يُبْعَدْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تُرْفَقْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تُرْفَقْ

on the thread of those who are not cast away.

In the thread of those who are never cast away

Send blessings upon him, and you will be treated gently.

Pray upon him, you will be treated with kindness

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَنْفَقْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَنْفَقْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَدْفَقْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَدْفَقْ

Send blessings upon him, and you will be in demand.

Pray upon him, you will find favor

Send blessings upon him, and you will flow abundantly

Pray upon him, you will overflow with grace

بِالْمُنْتَقَى الْمُسَتَمْجَدْ

بِالْمُنْتَقَى الْمُسَتَمْجَدْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَغْنَمْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَغْنَمْ

through the Chosen One, the glorified.

By the chosen, the glorified

Send blessings upon him, and you will gain.

Pray upon him, you will gain spoils

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَسْلَمْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَسْلَمْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَعْلَمْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَعْلَمْ

Send blessings upon him, and you will be safe.

Pray upon him, you will be safe

Send blessings upon him, and you will learn

Pray upon him, you will know

مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ أَوْحَدْ

مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ أَوْحَدْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَزْكُو

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَزْكُو

what no peerless one has known.

What no peerless mind has ever known

Send blessings upon him, and you will grow pure.

Pray upon him, you will be purified

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَذْكُو

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَذْكُو

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَمْكُو

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَمْكُو

Send blessings upon him, and you will blaze brightly.

Pray upon him, you will blaze brightly

Send blessings upon him; they will cry shrilly—

Pray upon him, and they will whimper

مِنْكَ الْعِدَا وَتَرْعَدْ

مِنْكَ الْعِدَا وَتَرْعَدْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَسْلُو

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَسْلُو

your foes, because of you—and tremble.

The enemies before you, and tremble

Send blessings upon him, and you will find solace.

Pray upon him, you will find solace

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَحْلُو

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَحْلُو

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَعْلُو

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَعْلُو

Send blessings upon him, and you will grow sweet.

Pray upon him, you will become sweet

Send blessings upon him, and you will ascend

Pray upon him, you will rise high

دَأْباً عُلُوَّ الْفَرْقَدْ

دَأْباً عُلُوَّ الْفَرْقَدْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَبْهُو

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَبْهُو

continually, to the height of al-Farqad.

Continually, to the height of the Farqad star

Send blessings upon him, and you will grow splendid.

Pray upon him, you will be radiant

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَزْهُو

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَزْهُو

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَلْهُو

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَلْهُو

Send blessings upon him, and you will be radiant.

Pray upon him, you will flourish

Send blessings upon him, and you will be diverted

Pray upon him, you will be diverted

عَنْ مَعْبَدٍ وَمَهْدَدْ

عَنْ مَعْبَدٍ وَمَهْدَدْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ وَاجْهَدْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ وَاجْهَدْ

from Maʿbad and Mahdad.

From the songs of Ma'bad and Mahdad

Send blessings upon him, and strive.

Pray upon him, and strive

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَنْهَدْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَنْهَدْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَزْهَدْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ تَزْهَدْ

Send blessings upon him, and you will rise up.

Pray upon him, you will rise up

Send blessings upon him, and you will renounce

Pray upon him, you will become ascetic

فِيمَا يُرَى وَيُسْنَدْ

فِيمَا يُرَى وَيُسْنَدْ

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ رَبِّي

صَلِّ عَلَيْهْ رَبِّي

what is seen and reported.

Towards what is seen and relied upon

Send blessings upon him, my Lord,

Pray upon him, O my Lord

وَآلِهِ وَالصَّحْبِ

وَآلِهِ وَالصَّحْبِ

مَا هَبَّ رِيحُ الْغَرْبِي

مَا هَبَّ رِيحُ الْغَرْبِي

and upon his family and companions,

And upon his family and companions

so long as the west wind blows

As long as the west wind blows

عَلَى بَقِيعِ الْفَرْقَدْ

عَلَى بَقِيعِ الْفَرْقَدْ

over Baqiʿ al-Farqad.
