جَاشَتْsurged بَلاَبِلُنَاour anxieties وَسَالَand flowed وَادِيهَاtheir valley
جَاشَتْ بَلاَبِلُنَا وَسَالَ وَادِيهَا
يَاO رَبِّmy Lord كُنْbe خَيْرَthe best وَالٍguardian لِمُعَانِيهَاfor whoever suffers them
يَا رَبِّ كُنْ خَيْرَ وَالٍ لِمُعَانِيهَا
Our anxieties surged, and their valley flowed.
Our anxieties have surged, and their valley has flooded,
O my Lord, be the best guardian for whoever suffers them.
O Lord, be the best protector for the one who endures them.
يَاO رَبِّmy Lord فَرِّجْgrant relief فَقَدْfor indeed ضَاقَتْhave narrowed مَسَالِكُنَاour paths
يَا رَبِّ فَرِّجْ فَقَدْ ضَاقَتْ مَسَالِكُنَا
وَمُنْقَعُand the pool الْغَمَرَاتِthe afflictions قَدْindeed طَمَىoverflowed فِيهَاwithin them
وَمُنْقَعُ الْغَمَرَاتِ قَدْ طَمَى فِيهَا
O my Lord, grant relief, for our paths have narrowed,
O Lord, grant relief, for our paths have grown narrow,
And the pool of afflictions has overflowed within them.
And the stagnant pool of hardships has overflowed within them.
يَاO رَبِّmy Lord أَنْعِمْbestow favor عَلَىupon مَنْwhoever بَاتَspent the night يَطْلُبُهُpursues him
يَا رَبِّ أَنْعِمْ عَلَى مَنْ بَاتَ يَطْلُبُهُ
هَمٌّworry وَغَمٌّand distress وَحُزْنٌand sorrow بِتَلاَفِيهَاby dispelling them
هَمٌّ وَغَمٌّ وَحُزْنٌ بِتَلاَفِيهَا
O my Lord, favor whoever has spent the night pursued
O Lord, bestow Your grace upon one who spends the night pursued by
By worry, distress, and sorrow, by dispelling them.
Worry, distress, and sorrow, by alleviating them all.
يَاO رَبِّmy Lord كُنْbe مَلْجَأًa refuge لَنَاfor us وَمُسْتَنَداًand a support
يَا رَبِّ كُنْ مَلْجَأً لَنَا وَمُسْتَنَداً
فَقَدْfor indeed غَزَتْنَاhave invaded us هُمُومٌcares لاَnot نُقَاوِيهَاwe withstand them
فَقَدْ غَزَتْنَا هُمُومٌ لاَ نُقَاوِيهَا
O my Lord, be a refuge for us and a support,
O Lord, be a refuge and a firm support for us,
For cares have invaded us that we cannot withstand.
For we have been invaded by worries we cannot withstand.
يَاO رَبِّmy Lord عَجِّلْhasten عَلَىagainst مَنْwhoever سَامَtreated عِشْرَتَنَاour fellowship
يَا رَبِّ عَجِّلْ عَلَى مَنْ سَامَ عِشْرَتَنَا
بَخْساًunjustly بِدَاهِيَةٍwith a calamity تَطْغَىoverwhelms دَيَاجِيهَاits darkness
بَخْساً بِدَاهِيَةٍ تَطْغَى دَيَاجِيهَا
O my Lord, swiftly afflict whoever has treated our fellowship
O Lord, hasten Your strike against those who subject our kin
Unjustly, with a calamity whose darkness overwhelms.
To injustice, with a calamity of overwhelming darkness.
وَاكْبِتْand abase عِدَانَاour enemies بِمَاwith what يُرْضِيpleases أَحِبَّتَنَاour loved ones
وَاكْبِتْ عِدَانَا بِمَا يُرْضِي أَحِبَّتَنَا
وَاجْعَلْand place مَكَائِدَplots قَوْمٍa people فِيin تَرَاقِينَاour collarbones
وَاجْعَلْ مَكَائِدَ قَوْمٍ فِي تَرَاقِينَا
And abase our enemies with what pleases our loved ones,
And crush our enemies with that which pleases our loved ones,
And place a people's plots in our collarbones,
And turn the machinations of such people back upon their own throats.
بِالْمُصْطَفَىby the Chosen One خَيْرِthe best خَلْقِcreation اللهِGod قَاطِبَةًall without exception
بِالْمُصْطَفَى خَيْرِ خَلْقِ اللهِ قَاطِبَةً
دَاعِيcaller الْبَرَايَاthe creatures إِلَىto الْحُسْنَىgoodness وَهَادِيهَاand their guide
دَاعِي الْبَرَايَا إِلَى الْحُسْنَى وَهَادِيهَا
By the Chosen One, the best of all God's creation,
By the Chosen One, the absolute best of all God's creation,
Who calls creatures to goodness and guides them.
The caller of humanity to goodness and its guiding light.
صَلَّىmay He send blessings عَلَيْهِupon him إِلَهُGod الْعَرْشِthe Throne مُرْسِلُهُhis sender
صَلَّى عَلَيْهِ إِلَهُ الْعَرْشِ مُرْسِلُهُ
إِلَىto الْخَلاَئِقِthe creatures قَاصِيهَاtheir distant ones وَدَانِيهَاand their near ones
إِلَى الْخَلاَئِقِ قَاصِيهَا وَدَانِيهَا
May the God of the Throne bless him—He who sent him
May the God of the Throne, who sent him, bless him,
To all creatures, far and near.
Sent to all of creation, both the distant and the near.
أَنْتَyou مَلاَذَrefuge الذِيthe one whose أَعْيَتْhave failed مَذَاهِبُهُhis paths
أَنْتَ مَلاَذَ الذِي أَعْيَتْ مَذَاهِبُهُ
طُرّاًall of them أَرَبَّO Lord السَّمَاوَاتِthe heavens وَمَنْand whoever فِيهَاwithin them
طُرّاً أَرَبَّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَنْ فِيهَا
You are the refuge of one whose paths have failed him,
You are the refuge for him whose paths have left him at a loss,
All of them, O Lord of the heavens and those within them.
Completely, O Lord of the heavens and all who dwell within them.
