يَاO سَادَتِيmy masters عَبْدٌa slave عَلَىat أَبْوَابِكُمْyour gates
مُتَطَفِّلٌan unbidden guest يَرْجُوhopes for الذِيthat which يُنْجِيهِsaves him
O my masters, a slave is at your gates,
O my masters, a slave at your doors
O my masters, a servant is at your doors,
An unbidden guest, hoping for what will save him.
Who hopes for that which will save him,
An uninvited guest, hoping for his deliverance.
قَدْindeed قَارَعَتْهُhave assailed him ذُنُوبُهُhis sins وَعُيُوبُهُand his faults
فَالْكُلُّso all of them نَارَa fire كَآبَةٍsorrow يُصْلِيهِmakes him burn
His sins and faults have assailed him;
His sins and faults have opposed him
His sins and his faults have battered him,
So they all burn him in a fire of sorrow.
So he is all a burning anguish that boils him.
And all of them burn him in a fire of sorrow.
إِنْif لاَnot تَفُكُّواyou (plural) loosen أَسْرَهُhis captivity يَاO أَسْرَهُhis captivity
يُبْدِwill display الشَّمَاتَةَgloating كُلُّeveryone مَنْwho يَقْلِيهِhates him
If you do not loosen his bonds—alas for his captivity!—
If you do not release his bondage, o bondage,
If you do not loose his bonds, alas for his captivity!
Everyone who hates him will gloat.
Every gloating foe will roast all that broils him.
All those who despise him will openly gloat.
