O Lord of the Throne, if You make the mouths of al-ʿArāʾish smile,

You will find me the first to feather the arrow of faith.

I shall give You a pledge: I will not betray You once

You cleanse it of the filth of those who commit abominations.

And by morning there, guidance’s fang will tear at desire,

And by evening there, desire’s claw will leave no scratch.

And there right judgment will unsheathe a keen sword of guidance,

Striking the foes’ errors in their forearm veins.

And their ruin will assail the people of the Cross,

So they will be cast into a surging sea of sorrow.

So aim at those foes who have settled there

An arrow of terror that kills outright and does not stray.

And let down upon them clouds from Your mantle,

Pouring a sweeping torrent of Your affliction.

And give the Muslims’ lions mastery over their wolves,

So they may sink into them the claws of a fierce assailant.

May faith speak the words of one giving thanks:

“Praise be to You, my Lord, at the conquest of al-ʿArāʾish.”

By the honor of God’s Messenger, who bit their error

    Upon its hand, from his mission onward, as a gnawer would;

Upon him be the blessing of God, who enjoins fighting them,

And through His aid lets us feel the hand of one who uplifts.
