يَا أَبَا يَعْزَى يَا عَزِيزَ الصِّفَاتِ

يَا أَبَا يَعْزَى يَا عَزِيزَ الصِّفَاتِ

فَلْتُفِدْنِي مِنْ أَنْفَحِ النَّفَحَاتِ

فَلْتُفِدْنِي مِنْ أَنْفَحِ النَّفَحَاتِ

O Abu Yaʿza, O you of noble qualities,

O Abu Ya'za, O virtuous one

O Abu Ya'za, O you of noble attributes,

So grant me some of the most fragrant wafts.

Grant me the scent of your pure breath

Grant me the benefit of the most fragrant spiritual breezes,

وَلْتُجِرْنِي مِنَ الشِّفَاءِ فَذَنْبِي

وَلْتُجِرْنِي مِنَ الشِّفَاءِ فَذَنْبِي

قَدْ رَمَانيِ مِنْ ذَاكَ في الدَّرَكَاتِ

قَدْ رَمَانيِ مِنْ ذَاكَ في الدَّرَكَاتِ

And shelter me from healing [as written], for my sin

And heal me, for my sins

And grant me refuge from misery, for my sin

has, because of that, hurled me into the depths.

Have cast me into perdition

Has cast me thereby into the lowest abysses,

وَلْتُحِطْنِي مِنَ الْخَنَى وَبَنِيهِ

وَلْتُحِطْنِي مِنَ الْخَنَى وَبَنِيهِ

بِالذِي حُزْتَهُ منَ الْبَرَكاتِ

بِالذِي حُزْتَهُ منَ الْبَرَكاتِ

And shield me from obscenity and its offspring,

Relieve me of sorrow and its progeny

And protect me from wickedness and its sons,

with the blessings you have attained.

With the blessings you have been granted

By virtue of the blessings that you have attained,

وَاشْفَعَنْ أَسَيِّدِي لِرَسُولِ ال

وَاشْفَعَنْ أَسَيِّدِي لِرَسُولِ ال

لَّهِ شَمْسِ الرّشَادِ عَيْنِ النَّجَاةِ

لَّهِ شَمْسِ الرّشَادِ عَيْنِ النَّجَاةِ

And intercede, O my master, with the Messenger of

And intercede, my master, with the Messenger of God

And intercede, O my master, with the Messenger of

God, the sun of guidance, the fount of salvation.

The sun of guidance, the eye of salvation

Allah, the sun of guidance, the wellspring of salvation.

فَعَلَيْهِ الصَّلاَةُ مَا فَاحَ نَوْرٌ

فَعَلَيْهِ الصَّلاَةُ مَا فَاحَ نَوْرٌ

وحَبَا الرَّوْضُ أَعْطَرَ النَّسَمَاتِ

وحَبَا الرَّوْضُ أَعْطَرَ النَّسَمَاتِ

So blessings be upon him as long as a blossom gives off fragrance

Upon him be blessings whenever the light shines

Upon him be blessings as long as blossoms exhale their fragrance,

and the garden bestows the most fragrant breezes.

And the meadows exude the sweetest fragrances

And the garden bestows the sweetest of breezes.

إِنَّنِي قَدْ سَلَكْتُ سُبْلَ الطُّغَاةِ

إِنَّنِي قَدْ سَلَكْتُ سُبْلَ الطُّغَاةِ

بِارْتِفَاعِي عَلَى ذُرَى شَهَوَاتِي

بِارْتِفَاعِي عَلَى ذُرَى شَهَوَاتِي

Indeed, I have followed the paths of tyrants,

I have walked the paths of tyrants

Indeed, I have walked the paths of the transgressors,

by rising onto the summits of my desires.

Raised high on the peaks of my desires

By mounting the peaks of my base desires.
