إِلَهِيmy God إِنْif كَانَتْwere فِعَالِيَmy deeds لاَnot تُرْضِيplease
إِلَهِي إِنْ كَانَتْ فِعَالِيَ لاَ تُرْضِي
فَحِلْمُكَthen Your forbearance يَاO مَوْلاَيَmy Master بِالْعَفْوِwith pardon قَدْmay يَقْضِيdecree
فَحِلْمُكَ يَا مَوْلاَيَ بِالْعَفْوِ قَدْ يَقْضِي
My God, if my deeds do not please You,
My God, if my deeds do not please You,
My God, if my deeds fail to please You,
then Your forbearance, O my Master, may decree pardon.
Then Your forbearance, my Master, may decree forgiveness.
Then Your forbearance, O my Lord, may decree my pardon.
لَكَYours الْخَيْرُgoodness كُلَّall الْخَيْرِgoodness أَنْتَYou مُنْيلُهُits bestower
لَكَ الْخَيْرُ كُلَّ الْخَيْرِ أَنْتَ مُنْيلُهُ
وَلاَand no خَيْرَgood إِلاَّexcept مَاwhat لِعَفْوِكَto Your pardon قَدْmay يُفْضِيlead
وَلاَ خَيْرَ إِلاَّ مَا لِعَفْوِكَ قَدْ يُفْضِي
Yours is goodness, all goodness; You bestow it.
All good belongs to You, You are its source,
To You belongs all goodness, You are its true bestower,
And there is no good except what may lead to Your pardon.
And no good except through Your pardon can flow.
And there is no good save that which leads to Your forgiveness.
إِلَهِيmy God أَعْتَقْتَYou have freed الْمَسَاجِدَthe limbs of prostration مِنَّةًas a favor
إِلَهِي أَعْتَقْتَ الْمَسَاجِدَ مِنَّةً
مِنَfrom النَّارِthe Fire وَهْيَthough they الْبَعْضُa part مِنْof مُلْكِكَYour possession الْمَحْضِexclusive
مِنَ النَّارِ وَهْيَ الْبَعْضُ مِنْ مُلْكِكَ الْمَحْضِ
My God, You have graciously freed the limbs of prostration
My God, You have granted the mosques immunity
My God, out of grace You have freed the limbs of prostration
from the Fire, though they are but part of what You alone own.
From the fire, though they are but some of Your sole domain.
From the Fire, though they are but a part of Your absolute dominion,
وَفِيمَاand in what بِهِwith it أَرْسَلْتَYou sent أَكْرَمَthe noblest مُرْسَلٍmessenger
وَفِيمَا بِهِ أَرْسَلْتَ أَكْرَمَ مُرْسَلٍ
يُنَجَّزُis completed عِتْقُthe freeing الْكُلِّthe whole مِنْby مُعْتِقِone who frees الْبَعْضِa part
يُنَجَّزُ عِتْقُ الْكُلِّ مِنْ مُعْتِقِ الْبَعْضِ
And in that with which You sent the noblest messenger,
And by the one You sent as the most noble emissary
And by the message You sent with the noblest of messengers,
the freeing of the whole is completed by the one who frees a part.
The freeing of all is fulfilled by the Liberator of some.
The deliverance of the whole is fulfilled by the Deliverer of the part.
