In the palace are lords of upright conduct.
In the palace are nobles of guidance,
Within the palace are noblemen endowed with righteous guidance,
They suckled the milk of glory from a breast.
They suckled the milk of glory from its breast,
Who suckled the milk of glory from the breast;

They coined an intensive form for their racing
They surpassed others in merit and virtue,
They coined an intensive form for their racing
in excellence: faʿʿāl, derived from ‘racing’.
Through excellence flowing as bounty's stream,
In the pursuit of virtue, deriving the emphatic pattern from the act of running.

They are the palace’s ornament and its adornment,
They are the palace's ornament and jewelry,
They are the adornment of the palace and its jewels,
and the palace is in need of adornment.
While the palace needs their grace and beauty.
And the palace is ever in need of ornamentation.
