In Ibn Masʿūd’s presence, souls grew glad, finding happiness
At Ibn Mas'ud's, souls prospered, made happy
In the presence of Ibn Mas'ud, souls grew pure and blessed,
Through love for him; then falsehoods fell away from them.
By loving him, though falsehoods attack him constantly.
And through his love, all vain illusions fell away from them.

عَمَّا حَوَى مِنْ حِيَاضِ الْفَضْلِ تَهْلِيلُ
And whoever is given another draught from the cup of right guidance has
He who is nurtured by wisdom's cup will not care
And whoever drinks deeply from the chalice of guidance has no
No retreat from what he has gained from the pools of excellence.
For ignorant censure, however loud its clamor be.
Retreat from the basins of grace he has attained.
