مَوْئِلاً أَعْتَدُّهُ لِلْمُعْتَدِي
From a Yahmadi's station I seek
From the abode of Yahmadi I take my course
From a praiseworthy station, I entreat
a refuge I count on against the aggressor,
Seeking refuge for the transgressor
A sanctuary I prepare against the transgressor,

Sheltering myself with patience and restraint
Seeking refuge in clemency and grace, should
the unseen undoes what lies in plain sight.
Lest fate unravel what is seen
The unseen within the witnessed realm fade away,

مِنْهُ رِيحُ الْعَتْبِ عَتْبِ السَّيِّدِ
And a greeting from Salim; one senses
And greetings from a forgiving friend
And a greeting of peace from a sound heart, exhaling
in it the scent of reproach—the master's reproach.
Whose gentle reproach is that of the noble lord
The scent of reproach, the reproach of the master.
