فَمَوْتُ أَبِي يَا رَبِّ أحْرَقَ فَجْعُهَا

فَمَوْتُ أَبِي يَا رَبِّ أحْرَقَ فَجْعُهَا

فُؤَادِي وَأَبْدَى مَا أُكِنُّ مِنَ الْوَجْدِ

فُؤَادِي وَأَبْدَى مَا أُكِنُّ مِنَ الْوَجْدِ

For the grief of my father's death, O my Lord, has seared

My father's death, O Lord, consumed her heart with grief,

O Lord, the tragic affliction of my father's death has burned

my heart and revealed the anguish I conceal.

And revealed the sorrow I harbor within.

My heart, and laid bare the deep sorrow I concealed.

فَكُنْ سَيِّدِي عَوْناً عَلَى مَا أَتَتْ بِهِ

فَكُنْ سَيِّدِي عَوْناً عَلَى مَا أَتَتْ بِهِ

مُصِيبَتُهُ تِلْكَ التِي أوْهَنَتْ عَضْدِي

مُصِيبَتُهُ تِلْكَ التِي أوْهَنَتْ عَضْدِي

So be, my Master, a help against what was brought

So be my aide, my Master, against the affliction,

So be my aid, O Master, against the burden brought by

by that calamity of losing him, which weakened my arm.

That weakened me, which his death brought about.

This calamity of his loss, which has sapped my strength.

وَعَامِلْهُ بِالغُفْرَانِ وَالصَّفْحِ وَالرِّضَى

وَعَامِلْهُ بِالغُفْرَانِ وَالصَّفْحِ وَالرِّضَى

وَلاَ تُحْرِمَنْهُ اللهُ مِنْ جَنَّةِ الْخُلْدِ

وَلاَ تُحْرِمَنْهُ اللهُ مِنْ جَنَّةِ الْخُلْدِ

And treat him with forgiveness, pardon, and favor;

Treat him with forgiveness, pardon, and pleasure,

And treat him with forgiveness, pardon, and Your divine pleasure,

and do not deprive him, O God, of the Garden of Eternity.

And deprive him not, O God, of the Garden of Eternity.

And do not deprive him, O Allah, of the Garden of Eternity.

وَأَجْزِلْ قِرَاهُ إِنَّ عَبْدَكَ جَائِعٌ

وَأَجْزِلْ قِرَاهُ إِنَّ عَبْدَكَ جَائِعٌ

لِفَضْلِكَ يَا مَنْ لاَ يَضِنُّ عَلَى الْعَبْدِ

لِفَضْلِكَ يَا مَنْ لاَ يَضِنُّ عَلَى الْعَبْدِ

And lavish hospitality upon him; indeed, Your servant is hungry

Bestow upon him abundant favor, your servant is famished,

And grant him a bountiful reception, for Your servant hungers

for Your bounty, O You who are never miserly toward a servant.

For your grace, O He who is not miserly towards the slave.

For Your grace, O You who never withhold from a servant.

بِجَاهِ إِمَامِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ مُحَمَّدٍ

بِجَاهِ إِمَامِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ مُحَمَّدٍ

عَلَيْهِ صَلاَةٌ مِنْكَ فَاقِدَةُ الْحَدِّ

عَلَيْهِ صَلاَةٌ مِنْكَ فَاقِدَةُ الْحَدِّ

By the honor of the messengers' leader, Muhammad—

By the status of the Imam of the Messengers, Muhammad,

By the honored rank of Muhammad, the leader of the messengers,

upon him be a blessing from You that knows no bounds—

Upon him a never-ending blessing from You.

Upon whom be blessings from You that know no bounds.

وَسَلِّمْ عََلَى الآلِ الكِرامِ وَصَحْبِهِ

وَسَلِّمْ عََلَى الآلِ الكِرامِ وَصَحْبِهِ

غُيوثِ النَّدى بَانِي ذُرَى المَجْدِ بِالجِدِّ

غُيوثِ النَّدى بَانِي ذُرَى المَجْدِ بِالجِدِّ

and bestow peace upon his noble family and his companions,

And send your peace upon his noble family and companions,

And send peace upon his noble family and his companions,

showers of generosity, builders of glory's heights through diligence.

The helpers of mankind, who built glory through strife.

Those rains of generosity, who built the peaks of glory with earnest endeavor.
