كَانَتْ وَأَيُّ لَيَالٍ عَادَ مَاضِيهَا
Ah, those nights! Will they return as
Oh what nights for me, will you ever come again
Ah, how I yearn for those nights! Will they ever return just as
they were? And what nights have ever seen their past return?
As once you were, and what night that's passed can be the same?
They once were? And what nights have ever seen their past return?
لَمْnot (past negation) أَنْسَهَاI forget them مُذْsince نَأَتْthey went far away عَنِّيfrom me بِبَهْجَتِهَاwith their joy

وَأَيُّ أُنْسٍ مِنَ الأَيَّامِ يُنْسِيهَا
I have not forgotten them since they departed, taking their joy from me;
I've not forgotten you since you departed in your joy
I have not forgotten them since they drew away from me with their splendor,
and what solace can the days bring to make me forget them?
What pleasures can days offer that would make me forget?
And what delight in the passing days could ever make me forget them?
