سَلاَماً كَأَنْفَاسِ الْحَدَائِقِ مَوْهِنَا
O breeze of the east wind, will you not carry from one who grieves
Gentle breeze of the morning, would you carry
O breeze of the East, will you not bear from a grieving soul
A greeting like the gardens’ breaths, late at night?
Greetings soft as the gardens' breath, serene,
A greeting like the breath of gardens in the deep of night,
وَهُبَّand blow عَلَىupon مَنْthose whom حَالَintervened بَيْنِيbetween me وَبَيْنَهُمْand between them
وَهُبَّ عَلَى مَنْ حَالَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُمْ
سَبَاسِبُbarren plains أَوْلَتْنِيbrought me الْكَآبَةَmelancholy وَالضَّنَىand wasting illness
سَبَاسِبُ أَوْلَتْنِي الْكَآبَةَ وَالضَّنَى
And blow upon those from whom I am parted
And waft to those from whom fate did me parry
And blow upon those who are parted from me
By barren plains that have brought me melancholy and wasting illness.
Solace for the sorrow that remains unseen.
By vast wastelands that have afflicted me with gloom and wasting away.
