Lo, praise be to God, from whom come my guidance
Praise be to Allah, from Whom comes my guidance,
All praise be to God, from whom comes my guidance and the dispelling of my ignorance, and blessings be upon the Guide.
And the instruction that dispels my ignorance; and blessings upon the Guide.
And the teaching of my ignorance, and prayers upon the Guide.
And thereafter: the esteemed Ibn al-Futuh has studied under our Sheikh al-Kammad, the elite among the glorious.
وَبَعْدُand to proceed فَإِنَّfor indeed ابْنَIbn (son of) الْفَتُوحِal-Futuh الرِّضَىthe esteemed قَرَاstudied

And now, indeed, Ibn al-Futuh, the esteemed, has studied
The son of al-Futuh al-Rida has read
An Imam who came to us from Constantine, possessing a rank there that dazzles the eyes of the envious.
Under our shaykh al-Kammad, the choicest of illustrious men—
To our Shaykh, the essence of glories,
He studied and mastered the Alfiyyah of Ibn Malik, and the text of Khalil which quenches the thirst of the parched.
إِمَامٌan imam أَتَانَاcame to us مِنْfrom قُسَنْطِينَةٍConstantine لَهُhe has

An imam who came to us from Constantine, possessing
An Imam who came to us from Constantinople,
And the Minor and Major treatises, alongside other beneficial lessons; in some of which lies the delight of the seekers' eyes.
There a rank that dazzles the eyes of the envious.
With a rank that delights the eyes of enviers.
And now he has sought from him a written certification, to serve as an adornment for him like necklaces upon graceful necks.
قَرَاhe studied فَدَرَىand so understood أَلْفِيَةًthe Alfiyya لاِبْنِby Ibn مَالِكٍMalik

He studied and understood the Alfiyya of Ibn Malik,
He read the thousand line poem of Ibn Malik,
With it, he contends with the uncertainties of fate whenever they loom, and sets it as a vigilant guard against calamities.
And the text of Khalil, who quenches the thirsty one's burning thirst,
And the text of Khalil, hitting the target,
May God preserve your grace, O you who establishes it; grant the certification to fulfill his plea, and may you remain a meadow for the seeker.
وَصُغْرَىand the Sughra (lesser work) وَكُبْرَىand the Kubra (greater work) مَعْwith فَوَائِدِuseful insights غَيْرِهَاothers besides them

And the Sughra and the Kubra, with useful insights from other works;
The minor and the major, and other benefits,
And in some of them lies delight for seekers' eyes.
Among them the delight of the eyes of visitors.
وَقَدْand indeed رَامَhe sought مِنْهُfrom him الآنَnow كَتْبَthe writing of إِجَازَةٍan authorization

And he has now sought from him a written authorization,
And he has just given books of authorization,
To be an adornment for him, like necklace strands around necks.
That will be jewelry for him like the necks of steeds.
يُبَارِيhe contends بِهَاwith it رَيْبَthe ravages of الْمَنُونِfate مَتَىwhenever انْبَرَىit arises

With it he contends with fate's ravages whenever they arise,
With it he will compete with the protected whenever he wishes,
And sets it in ambush against calamities.
And make it a watchtower for deputies.
فَأَبْقَىso may He preserve الإِلَهُGod فَضْلَكُمْyour generosity يَاO مُقِرَّهُhis certifier

So may God preserve your generosity, O you who certify him;
May God make your superiority last, O Granter,
Grant authorization, fulfilling his request; may you ever be a meadow for seekers.
Authorize the authorized, you remain a meadow for the visitor.
