أَنَخْتُI made kneel هُمُومِيmy worries عِنْدَat بَابِthe door of أَبِيAbu (father of) زَيْدِZayd
أَنَخْتُ هُمُومِي عِنْدَ بَابِ أَبِي زَيْدِ
فَقَدْfor indeed أَثْقَلْتُI have burdened ظَهْرِيmy back وَزَادَتْand they have exceeded عَلَىbeyond الأَيْدِيthe hands
فَقَدْ أَثْقَلْتُ ظَهْرِي وَزَادَتْ عَلَى الأَيْدِي
I made my worries kneel at Abu Zayd's door;
I leaned my worries on Abu Zaid's door
I made my sorrows kneel at the door of Abu Zayd,
For I have burdened my back, and they have exceeded what hands can bear.
For I have weighed down my back and exceeded the hands
for they have burdened my back and grown too heavy for my hands.
عَسَىmay مَاwhat أَتَاهُhas granted him اللهُGod مِنْof مُذْهِبِthat which dispels الْعَنَاhardship
عَسَى مَا أَتَاهُ اللهُ مِنْ مُذْهِبِ الْعَنَا
يُصَافِحُclasp hands with آمالِيmy hopes بِناعِشَةِwith reviving الأَيْدِيhands
يُصَافِحُ آمالِي بِناعِشَةِ الأَيْدِي
May what God has granted him to dispel hardship
Perhaps what God has brought of the remover of distress
Perhaps what God has granted him to dispel affliction
Clasp my hopes with reviving hands.
Will clasp my hopes with the bier of hands
will embrace my hopes with reviving hands.
